Morning. Go to make my coffee, put the kettle on, turn on the tap to heat up the water for my cup. I preheat my mug, because it's a very thick ceramic home-style thing, and I brew my coffee through a little device you place over top of it.
Cupboard, pull out the giant can of PC's version of what the local Timmy's offers. Thinking about the three feet of snow we already got and how much more we'll get today.
Go to get the kettle and the mug, and I see this:
Ladybug in my sink.
Jesus! Where did THAT come from? I would have squished him with the little coffee brewer if I hadn't seen it.
Afternoon. Go outside to get some crap done while the sun is out and no flaky white stuff dancing around. My car is coated in ice, and so is the driveway.
I'd just done two workouts, and nearly fainted during the Pilates one. Good luck.
Fifteen minutes into it I'm on the driver's side. So exhausted I'm barely able to lift my arms. About to attack the ice with that weird scoring side, so that I can chip away the rest. What do I see, sitting in the snow that's hanging off the roof?
Ladybug.
Two ladybugs, winter, minus 15 degrees Celsius. The thing is I don't think I saw two ladybugs the entire spring OR summer combined, when these things are actually supposed to be out.
Comments
They released lady bugs in our area to combat an infestation of some other pest. And I’ve lived in houses that had major infestations of lady bugs, and I once worked in a gallery with a major infestation of these creatures. They are horrible! Once they put off a “bomb” in the gallery which killed all the lady bugs. But they left stain trails of lady bug guts down all the walls, artwork, textiles… everywhere! And then there was the time I tried to vacuum them up. They release this horrible scent and whenever we used the vacuum after that – the horrible acid lady bug smell would come out and stink up the place. No, I don’t consider these little creatures as good luck, they are horrible, stinky and hardy little buggers and they are impossible to get rid of. I don’t like them one bit. No sir, not one bit. One wonders what pest they were there to take care of. Yuck yuck yuck!
TAKE LUCK! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvp4VdD6Dbc)
